How does it all work when you hire me for doula support?

Interview:

The first meeting is complementary. It is a time for us to get to know each other and decide if we are a good fit to work together. It is very important that you and your partner are comfortable with me and with my role in the birth.

Prenatal Meetings:

Once I am chosen to be part of your support team, we will meet 1-2 times before labor begins to discuss your priorities. These meetings allow me to provide practical resources and customize your support for pregnancy and labor--because every birth is different! I am available via text, phone call or email any time you need to chat. My on-call period starts at 38 weeks until baby is born.

Labor and Birth:

I offer continuous support throughout labor and birth through physical support, encouragement, advocacy, reassurance, and knowledge. I am a certified birth photographer, so I combine my role as birth doula and birth photographer. I want to provide confidence and empower you and your partner to have a fulfilling birth while capturing special moments from the experience. I generally remain with families for 1-2 hours after birth, until you are comfortable, and your newly born family is ready for quiet time together. If you would like to have your placenta encapsulated, I would take it home with me to be processed.

Postpartum and Newborn Care:

My services include one postpartum visit, typically within the first few weeks after the birth. During the visit, I can provide baby feeding support, baby care tips, referrals to community resources, and a chance to discuss your birth story if you are ready to talk about it.

Scholarships

Generous families have contributed to my scholarship fund. It allows me to provide support to families that are in need of services but whose circumstances make it difficult to manage the full fee. If you would like to pay a little extra, that money will be added to the fund to help future clients who desire birth support.  If you are in need of financial assistance, ask about this program.

Payment Options

The retainer fee for services is $1,000. The final payment is due at 37 weeks. I accept cash, check, credit/debit card, Zelle or Venmo. I also offer customizable payment plans to fit your family budget.

Birth Doula fees are typically considered eligible for reimbursement through your flexible spending account (FSA), health savings account (HSA) or cafeteria plan. Some insurance companies are now offering reimbursements under other plans as well! It is worth giving them a call to better understand their program.

If your business offers Carrot benefits, I have completed all the requirements and am happy to fill out the required paperwork for your reimbursement.

At this time, I am not a Medicaid Doula.
